Jamal Badawi

Jamal Badawi is a professor at Saint Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, where he is currently a cross-appointed faculty member in the Departments of Religious Studies and Management. He completed his undergraduate studies in Cairo, Egypt, and his Masters and Ph.D. degrees at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.
Dr. Badawi has authored several books and articles on Islam. He also researched, designed and presented a 352-segment television series on Islam, shown in many local television stations in Canada and the U.S., and in countries throughout the world. Audio and video copies of this series are widely available.
Some Titles of his published works include: Selected Prayers, Gender Equity in Islam, Muhammad in the Bible, Status of Women in Islam, Polygamy in Islamic Law, The Earth and Humanity : An Islamic Perspective, Islam: A Brief Look, Muslim Woman’s Dress According to the Qur’an and the Sunnah and Islamic Ethics.
In addition to participation in lectures, seminars and interfaith dialogues, in North America, Dr. Badawi is invited to guest speak at various functions throughout the world. He is also active in several Islamic organizations, including the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) and is the founder/chairman of the Islamic Information Foundation, a non-profit organization seeking to promote a better understanding of Islam and Muslims for non-Muslims.
He has lectured extensively in North America and abroad, and is an excellent speaker on a variety of topics including Islam and Christianity, and is an expert in Christian-Muslim dialogue.
