 MAS PRESIDENT APPEALS FOR URGENT ACTION BY AMERICAN MUSLIMS FOR PAKISTAN RELIEF EFFORTS

We, in the Muslim American Society (MAS), on behalf of the Muslim community in North America, extend our prayers and support for our brethren in Pakistan, Kashmir, Afghanistan, and India, in the wake of the devastating earthquake that hit the area.

As we view with grieving hearts and prayer-filled thoughts the unfolding rescue efforts and resultant human tragedy, we pledge our utmost to help with relief efforts in the region, especially in these blessed days of Ramadan.

We pray to Almighty Allah (SWT) to bless those who have died with forgiveness and acceptance, to grant patience and perseverance to those who are affected and to enable us to fulfill our obligation to help and assist our brothers and sisters in need.

The prophet (peace be upon him) said that the parable of the Muslims in their love and compassion towards one another is like that of one body - when one part of the body aches, the rest of the body aches. Indeed, the Muslim body here in America and elsewhere aches for our brethren in South Asia.

Urgent action is needed, and we call upon all MAS chapters and members to mobilize the community to donate for this worthy cause in these blessed days of giving, in the holy month of Ramadan.

MAS is in touch with reputable relief organizations working in different areas of the affected region to help channel aid in the best and most efficient way possible.
